VOLLEYBALL

Recruiting guidance and preparation for volleyball families — club, showcase, and signing day.

How Volleyball Scholarships Actually Work

Women’s volleyball is a headcount sport at Division I, so a D1 offer is a full ride — tuition, housing, meals, and books. There are no partial offers at that level.

It is also one of the earliest-recruiting sports in college athletics and one of the most club-driven. What happens in your high school gym matters far less than what happens on a club court in front of college staffs.

Scholarship and roster limits are set by each governing body and have changed recently. Confirm current numbers with the NCAA, NAIA, or NJCAA.

Club Volleyball Is the Recruiting Season

College coaches plan their travel around club tournaments and qualifiers, not high school matches. A strong club program with a schedule that includes events your target schools attend is the single most important recruiting decision a volleyball family makes — and it is usually made a year before recruiting starts.

Position matters more here than in most sports. Coaches recruit specific roles — outside hitter, setter, libero, middle — and they recruit by height and reach as much as by production. Know honestly which position your daughter projects to at the level you are targeting, and get verified touch and reach numbers.

Send full-set footage, not just kill highlights. Coaches want to see serve receive, transition, and what happens after a mistake.

The Volleyball Recruiting Calendar

Volleyball recruits early and moves fast. The families who do well are the ones who had film, measurables, and a target list ready before the contact window opened.

Contact periods, dead periods, and signing dates differ by division and change periodically. Confirm current dates with the NCAA, NAIA, or NJCAA. Want this mapped to your athlete’s graduation year? That’s what the free consultation produces.

Where the Rest of the Money Comes From

With athletic money split so many ways, academics do real work. Strong grades and test scores unlock merit awards that stack on top of any athletic offer, and Division III—no athletic money at all—frequently produces the lowest net cost of any offer a family receives.

See how scholarship stacking works, then run your family’s real number before comparing offers.
