Coaches get hundreds of emails a week. Most get deleted in five seconds. The difference between a deleted email and a returned phone call isn’t talent — it’s knowing what to send, when to send it, and what to leave out. We learned this the hard way, twice, with two sons who ended up at Vanderbilt and Tennessee. Here’s the sequence.
Every effective recruiting email does three things: it’s short, it’s specific to that program, and it makes the coach’s job easier — film up front, verified numbers, clear questions. The athlete sends the email. The parent proofreads. The coach responds to kids who communicate like future college athletes.
